From Concept to Shelf: Label Manufacturing

Label Manufacturing & Application

A great label design only becomes “real” when it can be produced consistently — with the right materials, the right finishes, and the right tolerances — and then applied cleanly at scale. For Latitude 16, this stage was about protecting Clay Andrews’ sensory-led vision in the real world: on shelf, on backbar, and through distribution.

This instalment focuses on the production translation and partnership that made the label system production-ready. (We’ll keep some of the more technical print-and-application specifics for future deep dives as our range expands — because these details are where premium packaging is truly won.)

Partner spotlight: MCC Label (Sydney)

Stage: Label manufacturing & application readiness
What MCC brought: A local Sydney partnership with the capability to test, refine, and repeat — ensuring the design intent could be delivered consistently in production.

We worked closely with MCC’s Sydney team throughout development. Having a local partner with dedicated manufacturing capability meant we could collaborate quickly, review outcomes in real time, and keep momentum across multiple packaging components. (MCC Sydney plant)

Why label manufacturing matters in trade

In wholesale and hospitality, label performance is practical. It affects presentation, handling, and confidence in the product. Manufacturing choices can influence:

  • Consistency: colour and finish staying aligned across runs
  • Legibility: typography staying crisp and premium, even under challenging finishes
  • Durability: resistance to scuffing, condensation, and frequent handling
  • Application quality: clean edges, correct positioning, and repeatable placement

MCC helps brands stand out with premium labels, including solutions and enhancements designed for beverage markets.

From concept to reality: proofing, test runs, and refinement

Because the L16° label relies on subtle material behaviour (how it catches light, how it shifts as the bottle moves), we didn’t treat production as a final step. We treated it as part of the creative process.

Working with MCC Sydney, we ran test print rounds to validate that the concept would perform in reality — not just on screen. That iterative approach helped us confirm material choices, refine how finishes interacted, and ensure the final label delivered the intended depth and movement in hand.

Manufacturing for consistency: the premium details that have to repeat

Premium labels often involve multiple layers of complexity — including specialty materials and embellishments. The key is making those elements repeatable, so the brand experience doesn’t drift across production runs.

MCC’s label solutions include premium enhancements such as foils and tactile finishing options, which can be combined to deliver high-end results. What matters most is the discipline around execution: holding consistent colour, clean registration, and reliable outcomes as volume scales. (MCC label solutions)

Application readiness: looking great on the line, not just in a flat proof

Manufacturing and application go hand in hand. Labels need to suit the bottle’s geometry, adhere reliably, and apply cleanly so the finished pack looks premium — every time. That’s especially important for trade, where small inconsistencies become noticeable when bottles sit side by side on shelf or backbar.

Our focus throughout this stage was simple: protect the design intent and deliver a production-ready label system that looks consistent, feels premium, and holds up to real handling.

Why we value this partnership

As a small business, the quality of partner support matters. MCC’s Sydney team worked closely with us during development — responsive, practical, and committed to getting the details right. The end result is a label system that looks exceptional and repeats consistently — exactly what trade partners need.
